just a run!

So I don’t really have anything specific to write about today but that usually makes for a good rant. Here is what is making me mad in the world of fitness. The people with the loudest bark have the weakest bite! What does that mean you might ask? As I’ve written on here before why do people feel the need to speak really load in big groups of people about how much they just benched and shit like “fuck Bro if you only knew what my workout was you would freak out dude!” then you look at the person and they are the worst walking example of fitness that you could imagine. everyone knows that guy! The dude that wears sleeveless shirts in December….AT NIGHT! almost as embarrassing as someone who wears sunglasses in doors. It just screams “look at me people im cool, im important.” What it really says is “I’m a fucking asshole I totally workout. Matter of fact I just got out of the gym now and that’s why I look so buff!” I just think if you are going to play the role. look the role! I guess this last month I’ve just noticed so many people talking shit when they shouldn’t. Some are acquaintances. Some use to be friends. Which leads me to another point. Why can’t people/friends just support each other. If i had a friend that was getting started in a new chapter in his or her life I would support no matter what. Not shit talk when I gain nothing from knocking them down. So after my rant on shitty gym folk I guess this is me being bummed and annoyed with people/friends who are just shit! don’t get me wrong I’ve been blessed with amazing people and friends in my life and they inspire me to take on new challenges and I love them for it.

So here is my closing! Dont be a  douch bag gym rat and don’t be a shitty friend. yep and listen to Slipknot! guaranteed muscle growth…. Ok not really but it feels like it!

Pick your music well!

So this kinda has nothing to do with a specific routine but hey none of my blogs really give up any program secrets. This however is another more crucial secret to lifting. That is what you listen to. I’m going to give you some of my do’s and don’t’s for proper gym music. Now if you go to a private gym which I highly recommend trying out you will most likely get to dictate some of the music that is played in the room. Here are the private gym do’s. First pick something that others in the room can get down with. It can be heavy and aggressive but lets not put on Cannibal Corpse if the other people in the gym are a couple older men and women. Slipknot? OK! Pantera? even my oldest client gets down with some Phil! Now if the floor is yours and you are alone or with another person that can take the extreme brutality then put on what ever you fucking want. Just have some discrecion. Second play it fucking loud! No matter if you are listening to Slayer or P Diddy. you want to get those extra pounds up then crank it to 11! Third! Air guitaring and air drumming is HIGHLY recommended between sets. Try that shit! the more agressive you are with youre air drumming and you will beast out on your lift and it looking fucking cool! Private gym don’t’s. First keep top 40 radio hits in your car. One if the coolest things about being in a gym where you have control over the music is discovering new bands and types of music. So put some thought into it. Second don’t sing along unless you know the words. You don’t want to look the fool. Third! Your not Eminem! Take that how you will. I love me some Eminem but just cause you are listening to something tough and inspiring doesn’t make you tough. Yes get jacked up but stay who you are.

Headphone Do’s and Don’t’s! Do’s. First! Again fuck everyone  else! If you are rocking the fuck out and in the zone then fuck no you don’t have to help people with shit! just rock the fuck out and lift! Nothing I hate more than some knucklehead asking for a spot when he or she can clearly see that you are fucking shit up to Hatebreed. Secondly air drum the fuck out of that music in between sets! more cardio! hahah ok probably not. Pick something to listen to that can WILL you through a lift. Something that inspires you. Don’t’s. First off don’t be the dick who listens to shit way to load so everyone in the gym can hear your crummy music. Secondly please don’t sing along all loud and look at yourself in the mirror and act like you are hard. It just creeps people out and makes them laugh at you. Third don’t be the person who ask for a spot while your headphones are still in “HEY CAN I GET A SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”. just take them out and ask nicely.

In closing just listen to music that inspires you and can jack you up!  Peace!
