blah blah blah. h and Abs!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 26, 2011 by riseabovefitnessoc

Yep you guessed it if you read my blog I am not the best with grammar. Well who gives a shit I’m not writing the Third Amendment here. I use spell check like everyone else in this world and sometimes even that fails me. I know how to break up paragraphs but I don’t! It’s not my fucking style. I sit and I just write what comes to my mind. Basically I fucking rant. I’m a trainer and a BAD writer. Even though I admire people who have the time and are diligently criticising these blogs or anyone elses blogs I choose to just go with my style. It works for me. Perfection in the writing field is just not my strong point. Plus I’m not writing these to get an A+ in english class. Also this is what really gets me going! People that leave comments on my facebook or blog telling me what “T” should do with MY clients and MY workouts. Now I appreciate the feedback and I encourage the comments. I know not everyone has good things to say but please leave the know it all comment to yourself cause first off they won’t be put up. Secondly if I look you up and you are some fucking slob that weighs about 400 pounds and have never worked out in his or her life and you are trying to give me, my followers and clients know it all bullshit advice PLEASE SAVE IT! I’m sorry your could be decorated to high heaven with certificates but if you yourself isn’t a walking example or the venom you are spitting then shut the fuck up and go bug someone else!!!!!!!!!! YEAH hows that for bad grammar.

So here is my advice and i will keep it short and sweet! I find that I’ve personally had success working a little bit of Abs and core everyday but not hitting it hard everyday. Choose about 3 days to really focus on your Abs. Just like other muscles in your body they need a break once in a while. Plus its true Abs are made in the kitchen so getting on a solid diet will help  the most. OH and listen to lots of Slayer. That helps the Abs!

gym talk!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 19, 2011 by riseabovefitnessoc

I fucking hate gym guy talk! I don’t know if its cause I spend 12 hours a day in the gym and I notice gym guy talk alot more now. First off no one cares about your new workout program bro! So please save the loud talking in crowded settings.”Dude my chest is so sore man. I put up 800 pound today bro! You should see my new program!” NO ONE CARES!!!! “Bro can you spot me so I can try to lift way to much weight and hurt myself cause I’m trying to show off and make a spectical”. Now I’m all for being on a program. Being on a program is the most important step in the gym but unless someone asks you keep it to yourself. Now be proud of your program and leasurly tell your friends cause you generally care to spred the work of a good workout that will help people that you care about but randomly being a cool guy loud talker isn’t nessesary. No one cares what “SUPS” you take or that you added a “DIME” to your bench. The worst thing about gym guy talk that I can’t stand is if you look like shit and aren’t a walking example of your program then stop bragging and yammering on about how bad ass you are in the gym and how dissaplined you are. Now that makes you look like an asshole. Now you could say “well Brandan you talk about programs and diets and all that stuff”. This is true but you are reading this blog cause you are generally interested in what I have to say. It’s called having a forum and trainging people if my profession.I’m not saying my opinions are 100% right. I’m just shedding light on what pisses me off. I’m sure everyone know one or seven of these guys or gals in there life. Speek up next time and tell them to stop sucking thier own dick!

Diet+Boring=Who gives a shit?

Posted in Uncategorized on January 11, 2011 by riseabovefitnessoc

SOOOOO. I’m Into my second week of my new diet that my friend and colleague Greg Lanctot in Montreal wrote for me and I must say in the beginning I felt like I was detoxing from drugs. I mean I’ve never detoxed from drugs in my life since I’ve been straightedge for the last 17 years on my life but I think it was slightly similar. I had cold sweats and headaches. I was run down and sluggish. Failure is not an option so I just kept with it. Then one morning I woke up and I was in Beast mode! What is Beast mode? It is when you wake up at 6am on your own and jump out of bed run to the kitchen and slam down your 5 eggs, 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 1 cup of berries. Washing it down with a stiff black coffee. I guess it was the old saying “turning over a new leaf”. Just in two weeks not only have I seen a change in my body composition but more importantly since im eating clean I feel great. So if you are someone that works out like a fucking maniac and wonders why you are not seeing changes there are two things that need to change. One being you routine. I’ll put it simply for you. If you are not on program then that is your first problem. Why go to the gym and just guess everyday? Find a trainer ummmmmmmmmm….. Possibly ME and have he or her write you a program. If you are frustrated in your routine then put your pride aside and have a person that does this for a living write your path to success. Same thing goes for your diet. If you are feeling in a rut and things arent going the way you would like. Again put your pride aside and have a professional write you a diet program. Its alot easier to achieve success when you dont have to guess. Follow a program!!! Yes dieting sucks. It is boring and sometimes alienates yourself from the world but if you are serious then it needs to happen.

resolution bro!!!!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 6, 2011 by riseabovefitnessoc

Now I’m sure everyone had a great holiday and if you didn’t I’m sorry to hear it. NOW IT’s RESOLUTION TIME!!!!!! I’m sure you are saying “I’m going to eat better”, “I’m going to work out at least 4 days a week”, “Bro! After the first I’m getting serious!”. If I had a knickel for every time I heard all the post new years jargon I’d have well…… about 70 cents. Nontheless it was something I heard alot of at the gym and social gatherings. It just amazes me that so many people have the fitness resolution and fail and then every year have some form of the same resolution. Don’t get me wrong the turn of the new year has been good for my business so far and I’ll be damed if I take an easy or let any of my new or old clients fail. It’s just not an option. SO I really hope that people stick to it this time. Nothing pisses me off more than gym talk by minimally dedicated people that will taper off a few months down the road. Well more shit pisses me off than that. So if you are reading this dont let failure be an option. If you are that down on your body or health then just fucking grow a pair and make the sacrifice and insted of sitting on your couch and watching your favorite shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Dexter just fucking use your DVR or TIVO and get in the gym and don’t eat like an asshole!  What was my resolution? realizing who my true friends are and giving them more or myself and not giving up so much time and effort for people that are fair weather. PEACE!
